About

The 2025 South African D20 was a landmark initiative aligned with the G20 process, dedicated to elevating the voices of Persons with Disabilities and ensuring lived experiences and their inclusion in shaped national and international policy. It was built on the momentum of Brazil’s 2024 civil-society lead D20 conference and highlights South Africa’s commitment to disability inclusion during its G20 presidency.

The 2025 South African Disability-20 was a year long disability-led process in which more than 1,700 persons with disabilities, OPDs and allies, working through twelve work streams, produced the Global and National Calls to Action (include above) for disability inclusion built on five pillars: Equality, Solidarity, Sustainability, Health and Well-being, and Governance and Justice.

The report below documents the methodology, outcomes and lessons of this process, and sets out recommendations for future G20 presidencies — including formal recognition of the D20 as an official G20 Engagement Group.
